Youth Ambassador Beach Rally

Calling the Next Generation of Ocean Guardians

WE are excited to announce a very special event!
this Labour Weekend

the Youth Ambassador Beach Rally

at Ruakaka Beach on Saturday 25 October
from 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Awards, Fun, and Community Spirit

Every young participant will be recognised with a Bream Bay Ambassador Award, and there will be spot prizes and refreshments on the day. Families and whānau are warmly invited to come along, support the youth, and enjoy a fun, creative afternoon on the beach.

This rally is all about giving the next generation of Bream Bay leaders the chance to express their vision for a healthy ocean and coastline. Through sand art and sculpture, young people will showcase what they know about marine life, beaches, and sand dunes – and imagine what Bream Bay could look like 20–30 years into the future.

Why now?

Our rally comes at a critical moment. The United Nations global High Seas Treaty – designed to protect the world’s oceans and reverse damage to marine life – is close to becoming international law, with 60 countries already on board. Sadly, New Zealand has not yet ratified the agreement. By coming together at Ruakaka, we hope to raise awareness, encourage action, and pave the way for stronger protection of Bream Bay’s waters.

Planning and Practice Day

In the lead-up to the main event, we’re hosting a pre-rally planning and practice session at the Ruakaka Recreation Centre on Sunday 19 October, from 10.30am to 3.30pm. This will be a chance for children to share their ideas, plan their creations, and learn from each other before hitting the sand the following weekend.

Join Us!

The Youth Ambassador Beach Rally is about more than sandcastles – it’s about sparking creativity, celebrating our young people, and strengthening the call to protect Bream Bay for future generations.

Mark your calendars for Saturday 25 October at Ruakaka Beach, and join us in giving the next generation a voice in shaping the future of our oceans.
